Book Schengen appointments 11 weeks out, not 6

VFS slots for Indian passport holders open in a 90-day rolling window and vanish within hours in April and September. We book the appointment the day your dates are fixed.

Fly into Leh, drive out via Manali

Arriving by air and leaving by road gives you two full acclimatisation days you'd otherwise burn, and the Sarchu descent is the better direction to see it.

Carry two cards on different networks
